A lot of my titles are inspired by movie dialogue and song lyrics. 2016’s Steve Jobs starring Michael Fassbender is one of my favorite movies, and in the final act Fassbender as Jobs relays this particular regret to Jeff Daniels as John Sculley, Apple’s CEO from 1989-1994. The face reference was of Benicio Del Toro in a New York Times Magazine profile. Like many of my pieces, I started the background of this painting without any idea of what it would later become.
