IT WAS WHAT IT WAS
IT WAS WHAT IT WAS
Acrylic, house paint, gouache on stretched canvas
40x30x3
2022

This piece is inspired by my time as a resident artist at PARADISE AIR in Matsudo City, Japan in February of 2020. I walked by this particular apartment building every day, and I was incredibly enamored with its design and vibrance, especially compared to buildings we have in America. The text comes from a sign my wife and I saw in front of a church in coastal Maryland, which seemed both chilling and funny.

IT WAS WHAT IT WAS is made with house paint, acrylic, and gouache on a large 40 in. x 30 in. x 3 in. stretched canvas.

This piece has sold to a private collector.
